life imitates art, Edgar Degas

Edgar Degas

Is not uncommon to see a designer getting inspired by an artist such as a paint, sculpture, dance, film…

One of the first things that come to my mind when I think about fashion/ art was the collaboration YSL did with Mondrian, one of the dresses of the line was a simple ‘’A’’ line design with the print of one of Mondrian’s paintings.

So thinking about art and fashion I come to realize how much one goes in hand to the other, therefore I decided to create a couple of pieces with my sister getting inspire by one of my favorite artist ‘’Edgar Degas’’

I little more about Degas, born 19 July 1834 – 27 September 1917, was a French artist famous for his work in painting, sculpture, printmaking and drawing. He is regarded as one of the founders of Impressionism although he rejected the term, and preferred to be called a realist. A superb draftsman, he is especially identified with the subject of the dance, and over half of his works depict dancers. These display his mastery in the depiction of movement, as do his racecourse subjects and female nudes. His portraits are notable for their psychological complexity and depiction of human isolation.
